Why BICSI Certification Matters for Your Cabling Project

BICSI standards ensure your structured cabling installation meets industry best practices. Here's why specifying a BICSI-credentialed installer protects your investment.

BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) has been the gold standard for information and communications technology (ICT) design and installation since 1977. For any business investing in structured cabling infrastructure, BICSI certification of your installer and designer is one of the most important specifications you can make.

A BICSI-credentialed professional — whether a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or an Installer — has demonstrated competency in designing and installing cabling systems that meet ANSI/TIA standards, local codes, and manufacturer specifications.

Why it matters

Cabling infrastructure typically has a 15-to-20-year lifecycle. Poorly designed or installed cabling leads to performance issues, failed inspections, voided manufacturer warranties, and costly rework. A BICSI-certified installation helps avoid all of these.
